Verve Integrated Movement Training: A Personalized Approach to Strength, Mobility & Movement
What if your training could bring together the best parts of personal training, Pilates, yoga and functional strength work—all in one personalized session?
That's the idea behind Verve Integrated Movement Training (IMT), a new movement-based service at Verve Movement in Westboro, Ottawa offered by Kathryn. Learn more about Kathryn here.
IMT is designed for people who want to become stronger, move better and feel more confident in their bodies, without following a one-size-fits-all workout program.
What is Integrated Movement Training?
Verve Integrated Movement Training is a personalized session that blends:
Personal training
Pilates principles
Yoga-inspired mobility
Functional strength training
Core and stability work
Balance and coordination
Breath-guided movement
Mobility-focused techniques
Rather than following a predetermined workout, sessions are adapted to your goals, experience, abilities and how you're moving that day.
The result is a training experience that can be both challenging and accessible.
It's not just about getting stronger
Strength is an important part of physical health and performance—but how you use that strength matters too.
IMT can work on several components of movement, including:
Strength
Building the capacity to push, pull, squat, hinge, carry and perform other everyday or recreational activities.
Stability
Developing control through the trunk, hips, shoulders and other areas of the body.
Mobility
Working on your ability to move through the ranges of motion that matter for your activities.
Balance and coordination
Challenging your ability to control your body while changing positions, moving through space or managing different loads.
Movement confidence
Learning how to move with greater awareness and control can make exercise feel more approachable and sustainable.
What might a session look like?
There isn't one standard IMT workout.
Depending on your goals, a session might include a combination of:
Load-bearing exercises
Using resistance to progressively challenge strength and physical capacity.
Core activation
Developing trunk control and awareness during different movements.
Balance work
Challenging stability and coordination.
Mobility work
Exploring controlled movement through different ranges.
Breath-guided movement
Using breathing as part of movement awareness and control.
Hands-on cueing
Your practitioner may use appropriate hands-on guidance to help you understand positioning or movement.
The program can then be progressed or modified over time.
Who is IMT for?
IMT can be a good fit for someone who wants individualized movement training but doesn't necessarily want a traditional personal training experience.
You might be:
New to structured exercise
Returning to exercise after time away
Looking to improve your mobility
Interested in Pilates or yoga but wanting more strength work
An active adult wanting individualized training
Looking for a more intentional approach to strength and movement
Someone who enjoys training but wants more variety and movement-focused coaching
You don't have to be an athlete.
You also don't need to be “fit” before starting.
The session is adapted to where you are now.
How is IMT different from clinical rehabilitation?
This distinction is important.
Verve Integrated Movement Training is wellness-based personal training provided by a non-regulated practitioner. It is not healthcare, diagnosis or clinical rehabilitation.
If you are dealing with an injury, medical condition or rehabilitation need, you may first benefit from an assessment with one of Verve's regulated healthcare practitioners, such as a chiropractor, physiotherapist or registered massage therapist.
Once appropriate, some clients may transition into movement-based training as part of their ongoing wellness and fitness routine.
A movement-focused approach at Verve
One of the unique things about Verve Movement is that movement and recovery exist within a multidisciplinary environment.
Our regulated healthcare practitioners and wellness-based practitioners have different scopes and roles, but they can provide complementary services within a client's overall journey.
That means your experience at Verve doesn't necessarily have to end when your symptoms improve.
You may start with clinical care.
Then transition into rebuilding strength and mobility.
Then continue with ongoing movement and recovery.
The goal is to meet you where you are—and support where you're going next.
